At the beginning of our freewebhosting discussion ,we need to learn what are websites? How are they different?
Simply think like this, you have a document file doc or txt etc in your pc. Then you connect that pc with a laptop using a lan wire.Now you have a local area network lan.
Now imagine you make that wire not local but somewhat big, and you can access it at a pc at your work.Now you have internet.Your pc is the host.
Webhosts are just that.A computer with very high speed internet connection.The documents saved there are mostly .html .php or .asp instead of doc files.Why?It makes browsing easier.As they are computers with a dedicated purpose relating internet service,they are typically called servers.
Now come to our main topic.Why do we freelancers need webhosting-that’s obvious.We need to set up websites for our clients,and we need to practice setting up websites first at some webhost. All of this practicing can be done at your pc too, but it’s better to practice online to make sure the site will finally work fine. And practice is sweet when you can do it for free.
There are a lot of freewebhosting companies out there.You may wonder why are they giving this service for free?The answer is,they mostly offer freehosting beside premium hosting with some limits.If you want to break free,you can purchase the premium ones.
This limit is the reason why we need to select and look for a good freehosting.Some hosting have so many limits it’s unusable. Whereas some offer almost premium like features.
On our most suitable free web hosts for freelancing practice purpose list I’m going to mention some free web hosts that I’ve personally used and found useful.
1.heliohost:
They offer free 500 mb webspace and cPanel.Everything else is unlimited.Wonderful free webhost.But that would be the only free host I would ever need except for it’s downtimes.Also sometimes they show 503 service unavailable type report on php and mysql based sites.Still it comes no 1 on the list because of the unlimited usage.This comes really handy.Unliited addon domain,unlimited ftp ,unlimited bandwidth are to name a few.They don’t have ads too.
2.square7:They don’t have anydowntime.They offer 7 gb space,unlimited bw and 20 domain,20 mysql database.This is a fast server.But they don’t present any control panel.There is options to setup database and domain,but that don’t come close to cpanel.No ads are forced.One problem is they actually check and may ban your site if it’s not agreeing with terms.Other sites mentioned here don’t do that.
3.byethost:This webhost offers 5 gb space, a lot of bw.And I’ve never seen it down!What makes it down on no three is it’s vistapanel,which is not so bad,but not comparable to cPanel,and the lacking to send email option.If you have a free site that needs good uptime this is the site to choose.
4.000webhost:This site has 1.5 gb space,1500 gb bw and the option to make as many account you want.Yet they do not offer cPanel,and they have a hoax of giving away money if you can refer other people.They also have downtime.I would have given it a higher rating if it had a good uptime.It also shows 503 service unavailable problems.
